Choose the scope of the formatting change
A global selection works for a change that genuinely applies to all text, but it is less useful when only certain formatting should change. Word's Find and Replace can search for character properties, paragraph settings, or a combination of text and formatting. That allows a repeated phrase or a particular type of emphasis to be changed without manually locating every occurrence.
Use the tool to repair inconsistent document formatting
The method can help replace unwanted italics, alter the appearance of a recurring term, or adjust paragraphs with a particular alignment or indentation. Define both what should be found and what should replace it before applying a broad change. Styles are still useful for planned consistency, but formatting searches provide another route when a document has already been assembled with scattered manual adjustments. Review the result to confirm that the intended material was affected.
