Microsoft Teams uses OneDrive and SharePoint for file recovery. For a file in OneDrive, open OneDrive within Teams, choose Recycle bin, and restore the selected item. The file returns to its last stored location rather than a new arbitrary folder.

For a deleted channel file, open the channel's Shared tab and use Open in SharePoint, then restore it from the SharePoint recycle bin. Removing a file from a chat message is a separate action performed by editing the message. Identify the file's location before choosing the recovery path.
