Export a selected folder
Google Drive can package a folder into a ZIP download, providing a local copy of its contents. How To Geek recommends checking available device space before starting. Locate the folder in Drive, right click it and choose Download. Large folders can take time to prepare, so wait for the ZIP creation and save prompt before assuming the export is finished. Store the downloaded package somewhere clearly associated with the project.
Choose the right export scope
For several files or folders, select the intended items together and use Download to create a combined package. For a broader account export, the guide describes Google Takeout with Drive selected and an export format such as ZIP or TGZ. Google Docs, Sheets and Slides can also be downloaded into compatible offline formats. Treat that download as a snapshot rather than a continuously synchronized workspace. Open representative documents after export to confirm that the files and formats meet the purpose of the archive.
