Choose a role when inviting someone
The guide describes opening Share from a Google document or the Drive file menu, entering a person’s address, and choosing an access level. Editor supports collaborative changes, Commenter supports feedback, and Viewer provides reading access. Select the least broad role that fits the person’s work, and add an invitation note when context would help. A document review and an unrestricted editing session do not require the same permission.
Review link access and remove permissions when appropriate
Anyone-with-the-link sharing can extend access beyond directly invited people, so inspect both the link setting and its role. Restricted access is more suitable when only specified people should enter the document. The guide also covers removing an individual’s access or turning off broad link sharing. Recheck the sharing dialog after the collaboration ends, and remember that a copied link does not itself explain which permissions its recipient will receive.
